President Stephen Owens is a 25-year veteran of Swire Properties, one of the leading real estate developers in South Florida and a subsidiary of London-based Swire Pacific Holdings, Inc., and has been responsible for the Company’s U.S. property operations since 1985.
Prior to assuming his current position as President, Owens was responsible for Swire Properties’ portfolio of commercial and residential investments, totaling more than 2.0M square feet. His major accomplishments include the master planning of Brickell Key, a major mixed use, 44-acre urban development featuring: the award-winning Courvoisier Centre, a 325,000 square feet office complex; the three tower, 800 apartment Tequesta Point luxury condominium development; the 272-unit luxury rental Courvoisier Courts; the recently completed 319-unit Courts Brickell Key condominium; and the JADE at Brickell Bay, a 336-unit joint venture between Swire Properties and Fortune International. Owens also led the development of the 329-room world-class luxury hotel - Mandarin Oriental, Miami.
Over the years, Owens has managed dozens of projects worth in excess of $2.0 billion throughout Florida, Hawaii, Texas and Hong Kong.
Prior to re-joining Swire Properties’ U.S. operations, in 1992, Owens spent two years at the Company’s headquarters in Hong Kong where he served as director of development. While there, Owens oversaw the development of more than 680 residential units spanning 1.2 million square feet, two five-star 500-room hotels and 1.4 million square feet of commercial real estate.
He also serves as vice president of Swire Pacific Holdings, Inc., is a member of the Board of Directors of Swire Coca-Cola USA, one of the largest private bottlers of Coca-Cola in the United States and has served on the boards of the Beacon Council and the Brickell Area Association.
Owens is currently a resident of Three Tequesta Point, where he sits on the condo board and also chairs the Brickell Key Master Association.
